Full STEAM Ahead For Awards Season

The Electrical Venus is making its mark in the book award shortlists.

Like Red Ink, The Big Lie and Mother Tongue before it, the book is nominated for the prestigious 2019 CILIP Carnegie Medal. This award is voted for by authors’ favourite people – the librarians.

I’m also thrilled to see The Electrical Venus on the shortlist for UCLan’s inaugural STEAM prize, celebrating books that promote science, technology, engineeing, art and maths to young readers.

It was always my intention that the book should highlight the joy of curiosity and experimentation, with a girl leading the charge (pun intended), so this nod feels particularly special.

Updates on the books’ progress to come…
