With Mettle From Metal

From September, I will be taking up a residency at Metal Culture Peterborough to begin research on a brand new writing project.

Metal was founded in London in 2002 by Jude Kelly OBE and has been active in Peterborough since 2012. Working from Chauffeurs Cottage, the original gatehouse property at the entrance to Peterborough Cathedral, they act as the catalyst to transform people and places through great art and inspiring ideas.

Whilst in Peterborough, the place where I was born and brought up, I’ll be exploring why some people leave their hometowns and why some people stay (and why those that run away sometimes come back). Also the theme of takeover – something Peterborough has experienced in various ways.

I have a complicated relationship with my hometown, something I’ve written about for Standard Issue Magazine in the past, so I’m excited (and little frightened!) to find out what comes from my time in the city.
