20/9/12

To celebrate National Short Story Week I’ll be hosting The Berko Speakeasy –  a stylish cabaret of short stories in the Greene Room, Kings Arms, Berkhamsted.

Short Story Week founder and Short Story Radio producer Ian Skillicorn and I have been saying for ages that we should do our own lit night. And here it is.

We’re thrilled to be using the inaugural Speakeasy to launch a new collection from Booker shorlisted publishers Salt, featuring tales from Hanif Kureishi, Adele Parks, Doctor Who scriptwriter Robert Shearman and more.

All the stories in the collection, called Overheard, were written with the intention of being read aloud – and we’ll be giving them a theatrical twist with our company of professional actors.

Waterstone’s will be there on the night selling books, the Kings Arms are devising a menu of exclusive bootleg cocktails and, if that wasn’t enough, we’ll be giving away prizes too.

Get your tickets by emailing [email protected].

Then like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter for updates.

The Berko Speakeasy, Wed 14th November 2012, 7pm for a 7.30pm start.
